Trouble connecting Safe Email to Xfinity email account

I’m having trouble connecting Norton Safe Email to my Xfinity email account. I’ve gone into my xfinity email and enabled the 3rd Party Access. I keep getting an error that the email and password are invalid. I confirmed that I could log to xfinity mail using the email and password. Before I spend an hour on wait calling xfinity I was hoping there was a simple fix.

AI Overview
To fix Norton Safe Email connection issues with Xfinity, first, confirm your password and ensure Xfinity’s third-party email access is enabled by checking the Xfinity settings. Next, open the Norton Safe Email tile, select “Allow Access,” and add your Xfinity account with the correct, updated password. If that doesn’t work, temporarily disable Norton’s firewall and then try connecting again.

Step-by-step troubleshooting:
Verify your Xfinity Password and Settings

  • Log in to your Xfinity account at xfinity.com and confirm your password is correct.
  • Check Xfinity’s settings to ensure third-party email access is enabled, as this is sometimes a cause for connection issues, according to an Xfinity article.

Allow Access in Norton Safe Email

  • Open the Norton Safe Email tile.
  • Click on the “Fix Now” button or “Allow Access” under the “Protected Email Accounts” section.
  • Add your Xfinity email account and enter your updated password.

Temporarily Disable Norton Firewall

  • Open your Norton device security product.
  • Navigate to the Security section.
  • Go to Advanced Security > Network > Smart Firewall.
  • Turn off the Smart Firewall by clicking the slider and selecting to turn it off until you turn it back on.
  • Check if you can connect to the internet.

Test the Connection

  • After disabling the firewall, try adding your Xfinity account to Norton Safe Email again.
  • If it works, you will need to reset your firewall rules. Remember to turn the firewall back on afterwards.

Consider Other Issues

  • Norton VPN: If you are using Norton VPN, try disconnecting and then reconnecting it, or try connecting to a different VPN region.
  • Email Provider Support: Some email providers may not fully support Norton Safe Email due to security restrictions, though Xfinity is generally supported.
  • Password Issues: If you entered the wrong password too many times, your Xfinity account might be temporarily locked. You may need to wait for an hour before trying to sign in again.
  • Xfinity Email Migration: Be aware that Xfinity accounts are transitioning to Yahoo Mail, which might impact connectivity with third-party applications. Continue to follow the steps above while keeping the migration in mind.
