The only program from Norton in the "add/remove programs" is Live Update and I have tried to remove it several times but when I restart the computer and go back into "add/remove programs" it's still there - this is really getting frustrating. My son wants to get online but since all 3 computers are on the same network I don't want them online untill I can get some security on there computer.
I was hoping there would be an easier way to remove this program, I really didn't want to go thru DOS to do it.........but it looks like I might have to remove it the old fashion way.
Thank you
Wendy
Hey, you could be right that that is the way to get ghost off. If you have the original ghost disk, the removal tool may be on there. I vaugely remember that they used to do it, same as WordPerfect used to do. Check there first and see. Also go to the ghost directory and see if there is an unwise.exe program. As I recall that used to be a removal program, and I don't think XP picked up on those being removal programs. Some programs I have seen use INSTALL spelled backwards as a removal tool.
I am trying to remove Norton SystemWorks 2003 from my PC, I have downloaded the Norton Removal Tool and tried to use it but it tells me I have to remove Norton Ghost 9 FIRST.
I have looked in my Program Files and there is no UNINSTALL for the Ghost, I have gone to ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS and tried to remove Norton from there but when I restart my computer the Norton is still there, then I try the NRT again and I get the same message........I NEED TO REMOVE NORTON GHOST 9 first.
Can someone please please help me, I would love to upgrade my Norton but cannot and I am going absolutely CrAaAaAaZy !!
Thank you
Wendy
Is there anything in Control Panel>add and remove programs?
If not you might just be able to go in and remove the directory for Ghost 9 and then go into the regestry and remove Ghost that way. It isn't the easiest way but it might help. Check to see if there is anything under ARP first though.
