Trust my password selection

I have about five passwords on the go at the moment. All for various things. It is, unsurprisingly, quite difficult for me to remember each one and to remember which is which. For this reason, I like to use the same password on multiple websites.

Signing up for this forum, I entered one of my common passwords. Then I got a message saying that I need to include a capital letter. With no passwords containing a capital letter, I begrudgingly capitalised a current on, hoping I'd remember it. Then I was told I needed to include a number, and the whole thing wheeled round.

Why do you implement this feature? Can you not trust me to enter a password I'll remember? Surely it's my business what security I employ on my account, not yours?

PS: If I never log in again, it's because I forgot my password. Funny that.
