Just purchased and downloaded Norton 360 Premium in order to get more backup space. Started my backup today, after 3 or 4 hours it said only 35% done. I'm using a laptop so wanted to turn off for a while and pressed pause but then it shows cancelled when I went to start up again. What did I do wrong and also does it always take that long to backup? I have mostly photos and have about 11 gigs of them in Photoshop. Any way to speed it up or get back to the part that I already did?
Pay your ISP to increase your Upload speed, as upload speed is normally far less then download speed.
Hi Veramay,
Its also advisable to backup/restore in parts if the size is huge.
The transfer speed also depends on the network connectivity, so to be on safer side please try to proceed with breaking the total size in to 1 or 2 GB's and resume your backup, meaning do it folder by folder, file by file if the size is huge.

Hi, veramay,
11 gigs is going to take a good long while to backup, especially online. This time should decrease once it's only backing up changes, but there's nothing to be done for it that first time but let it run. If you find that subsequent backups are also taking longer than you'd like, then buying a faster connection might be in order, but I think there's a good chance you'll be satisfied with the speed once this first one is complete.
Unfortunately, closing your laptop or otherwise putting it into pause/suspend will cancel a backup that's in progress, because you're shutting down parts of your computer that are necessary for it to proceed. So you'll just need to keep it plugged in, upen, and on until the backup is complete.

If I have to keep my laptop on for that long, then this way of backing up may not be for me. After 3.5 hrs. it only back up 165 mbs. out of 11.5 gigs. I will check with my isp but this is the only time I will need to do this much uploading.
Yeah, that's what I figured. You could try to nug it out overnight this time, and figure future backups will be (much) quicker...but I've gotta tell you, given the data rates your available bandwidth is giving you, the backup to local media option I just mentioned on your other thread is looking better and better for meeting your needs....
