My Time Machine backup has been running extraordinarily slow utilizing OS X Mavericks. Apple (on a page updated October 23, 2013) stated: “Virus scanning software can make Time Machine backups very slow. If you use Norton AntiVirus or a similar product, try turning it off during backups.” Is there anyway to turn Norton off during a backup? I don’t want to install and uninstall Norton on a regular basis. I just want to be able to periodically back up my computer. Here is the link to the Apple Support Page: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14169?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US Thank you for your help.
