Norton started getting stuck on “check for protection updates” a couple of weeks ago. No changes were made to my system or programs at all before this happened. Norton just started saying my subscription was expired. Not sure if this was after Norton itself updated, but it’s possible.
Tried uninstalling Norton using the removal tool and installing it again and it stopped saying my subscription had expired on the main window but was still hijacking my check subscription link to the page where you pay to extend support rather than my account.
My account page shows I have over two months left on my subscription and auto-renewal is turned off, if that makes any difference.
I’m not completely clear on your issue but if you’re able to log into your Norton account either through your app or https://login.norton.com, remove the device that’s encountering the expired subscription error message from Norton’s list of protected devices. It’s located in the My Subscription tab, click on the Manage License link to remove. Then use the Install on Another Device link to reinstall N360.
I had a similar problem when I reinstalled N360 on one of my computers after removing it. Kept getting “subscription expired” error messages but this corrected the error. Hope it works for you.
All: When the OP does the removal they should go to the advanced settings within the removal program and do a remove only. Once done, and a reboot has taken place. Find and delete ALL folders labeled Norton, Avast, Symantec and reboot again. Then download the product again from within their Norton account subscription and install. The activation should be automatic since they will be required to be logged into their Norton account.
