Hi, Shane.
In a word, yes. See here.
If you think someone has signed in to your Norton Account without your authorization, I suggest you change your password ASAP!
Actually, you might want to set up Two-Step Verification for your account just to prevent this sort of thing from happening again.
It doesn't seem to be working. I click "Get Started", "Get Started" again, then the "Next" button. I'm trying to set up text message and voice message, but it doesn't allow me to skip setting up a VIP app.
Where can I find help on this? I don't have VIP access.
Thanks,
Shane.
Hi, Shane.
I think VIP Access is an Android app for mobile phones, and it's free! Visit the Google Play webpage about this app by clicking the link below. Actually, I myself haven't set up two-step verification yet, so I couldn't tell you whether not being able to skip setting that feature up is normal or not. Sorry.
Greetings,
Does Norton offer Two-step verification for signing into my Norton account?
Thanks,
Shane.
You know what? Just realized that that link won't redirect you directly to the VIP Access page. What you need to do after you click that link is to search "VIP Access", minus the quotation marks.
I just noticed that the wrong option was automatically pre-selected. It was a stupid mistake. Sorry for the trouble.
Shane.
No problem. So you've got it all set up now?
I think so. Most of the links go to a page which says "Something went wrong", and clicking "Please try again" doesn't do anything.
Shane.
Wait. Do you mean even after you unselected the pre-selected option(s), it was still redirecting you to a page that said "Something went wrong"?
I was able to get it set up, but when I go back to the two-step verification page, most of the links go to a "Something went wrong" page. Even clicking "Done" does this.
Shane.
Hm... Then I think I will hold off setting it up till Norton makes it more stable. Thanks for the info, though.

I have setup two-step verification.
But it doesn't seem to be used for either Norton Web or Norton Safe Identity. Both let me logon as usual without the 2nd step.
Hi, ictag.
Sorry for the very belated reply! Although I was the one who originally posted the link to Norton's two step verification page, I myself did not have it set up for my account. So what I am about to say is based on pure guesswork. So you say that Norton Web and Identity Safe don't require you to go through the second step. If my understanding of two step verification is correct, that is normal. I think it only comes into play when you want to change your password, say if a hacker locks you out of your account.
Okay. Ignore what I just said, ictag. I just went back to Norton's two step verification page and reread it, and I think you are at least partially right. It is supposed to send you a code via your phone after you enter the password. However, it doesn't say whether this applys to Norton Web and Identity Safe or not. Maybe it only applies when you sign into your account via Norton's account management page. Try signing into Norton via its account management page and see if it asks for the code. If yes, then that probably means that it only comes into play when you are trying to sign in to your account through Norton's website directly. On the other hand, if no, then perhaps this feature isn't working properly. Another possibility is that you may have accidentally disabled this feature on the particular device that you use to sign in with. If you go back to Norton's two step verification explanation page, near the bottom, it says that you can actually choose to disable the feature for a particular device.
Here's what happens when I use two step verification:
What works:
login.norton.com
mynortonaccount.com / account.norton.com
What does not work:
manage.norton.com (Norton Management)
All 3 webpages can change/edit my email and password but only 2 of them have two factor verification enabled. Norton Management completely bypasses the part where it should be asking for a code.
This must change such that if you enable two factor verification, it should apply to ALL Norton products not just a select few. I've tried various ways to find why the above is the way it is and I cannot find a solution.
Hi, andysmith.
Thank you for the detailed report! So it appears that Norton's two step verification is a work in progress.
A friend of mine recently spoke with a customer rep on live chat to find out why two-step is the way it is. He found out that it's only for the account and does not apply to management or identity safe.
The tone of the chat sounded like two-step is not a work in progress at all.
For two-step to be effective, it must be applied to everything. But for some reason, Symantec decided against it and went with the bare minimum. It's not good enough, particularly from a company that makes its business in IT security.

Hi, andysmith.
That's disappointing to hear.

I wholeheartedly agree with you!
