There's Currently A Serious Problem With Norton Product Activation(s)...
For me today was "1 day left" renewal day for approximately 8 desktops that I either own personally or are others which I also administer. This normally entails entering new product keys into all of these systems.
All these systems have the current release version of NIS (v21.6.0.32) installed on them.
My normal method for doing this process has been to use the Norton Management website to enter the new product keys for each of the expiring systems...Today however the Management site appears to be mostly non-functional (at least for this level of management activity):
So I elected to use the within NIS GUI renewal function to enter the new keys.
Each system accepted the new keys without issue - then presented the Activation completion dialog:
However each system then failed to Activate, showing the following prompt:
The only option to which, as you can see, is to select Cancel...
The next dialog displayed is essentially a Activation failure notification:
The instructions of which, if followed, places the User into an infinite loop of Account activation attempts & failures.
FWIW, The same Norton account credentials work (as expected) to log into the main NIS GUI, as well as for logging into the ID Safe and all other associated Norton websites requiring User account credentials. In other words, this is only affecting/preventing product Activations - and possibly various parts of Norton Management website functionality.
I could understand how this may happen on one or two systems (possibly due to some on-system corruption factor of some sort), but to affect 8 different systems, 5 of which are each in different geographic locations - and are using different ISPs? NO - Something must be fundamentally broken at the Symantec/Norton servers - I fail to see how could it be otherwise...
At least all these (supposedly renewed?) systems seem to be running all okay on the new keys - doing their live updates, etc., but at present they all remain in this quasi-indeterminate "Not Fully Activated" condition.
I'd like to request that some Norton Employ please respond and confirm that Norton is presently having "problems" at their end regarding Product Activation & Management; and to please let me know if this will be self-correcting, or will it require further intervention in order to fully remedy?
Kind regards,
John
