Unable to connect to the Norton Live update server.Please check your internet connection

Hi all,

 

I am a new member to this community.I have a Norton Internet Security 2009 product installed in my computer.Upon the successfull installation, i tried to run the Live update, but it fails with the Error message listed above.I contacted the Tech support and they ran a Autofix tool which did not help me in getting fixed, infact affected my Windows from getting updated.I tried to run the NRT, but it is getting failed.My operating system is Windows vista Ultimate 32 bit edition.Please help as my computer is unsecured..Thanks

Thanks for the update.I checked the same under my network connections and i have the setting "Obtain DNS server Automaticaly" is selected.

Got the same error message.  My scenario:

 

* Installed NIS2009 on my Windows XP in November - no problems

* On 12/18 or so, NIS2009 started displaying a blue >>> instead of a checkmark superimposed on its logo in the System Tray

* Today I decided to investigate. I opened NIS2009. Clicked <fix> and that's when I got the "unable to connect ..." message

* I rebooted my router and tried clicking <fix> again. Same msg.

* I uninstalled NIS2009. Downloaded the new version released on 12/19 and installed that successfully.

 

Am concluding that the part of NIS2009 that detects upgrades and <fix>es them was not working correctly in the previous version. Hope it's working now or that this upgrade lasts long enough for me to get a Mac.

Please could you also Download and Install and Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and see if this picks up any Malware which may be stopping Norton from Connecting to the Server.  Do a Full Scan of all Drives and let us know the Result.
