The [Agree & Install] link in the popup from setup.exe acts like plain text, not a link. Would like some guidance B4 running another program downloaded in the attempt at reinstalling. Details follow.
As of [2012-11-14], I had NIS installed on 3 computers. On one of them, NIS started asking me to press the [Fix Now] button. The request persisted despite a few iterations of pressing the button, running LiveUpdate, and rebooting. NIS insisted it could not fix several things, including SONAR and antispyware.
The virtual assistant "Nathan" recommended removing and reinstalling. I downloaded the latest Norton Removal Tool and ran it. The internet connection happened to go down briefly during removal; dunno whether that matters. I also downloaded and ran the Norton Power Eraser, which found nothing to complain about.
Following the browser link that Nathan had provided for the reinstall, I logged into my Norton account and found that my NIS was still listed as installed on 3 computers. I did not know whether this was what I should see, but pressing the [Download] button did work. When I ran the downloaded setup.exe, it soon produced the popup asking me to click on [Agree & Install]. But clicking on the link had no effect. The process just sat there generating page faults on Task Mgr w/o using any CPU. The link to the license agreement did work, as did the link for going to the folder with downloaded files:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Norton\{NIS202019-SHPD-FSD31014}
I noticed that the downloaded files include one named
NIS-UPGRADE-ESD-NoDefs-20-2-0-19-EN.exe
with 44.8 MB that appears to be NIS 20.2.0.19. I considered running it directly, but I would like some guidance from an actual person first. Should it be run? Should it be run with or w/o having setup.exe running?
