I have WMP11 installed on my vista 64 computer (with all program updates current) and have populated it's library with music, pictures, and videos by monitoring folders on another computer over my home network. No media acutally resides on my local computer and the music, pictures, and video folders under my Documents folder are empty. The media in my WMP11 plays fine on my local computer.
I have enabled WMP11 sharing on my computer and accepted and allowed sharing with the PS3 device. In Computer Management I have also set the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service Properties startup type to Automatic and started the service. On the PS3 I have enabled network media sharing and can see an icon representing the media sharing from my computer.
When in the PS3, I click on the media sharing icon I can see the music, pictures, and video folders (which are of course empty) but can't see the contents of my WMP11 library. As a test I placed an mp3 file in my local computers music folder and it plays fine on the PS3.
In NIS2010 I have configured the Network Settings/ Smart Firewall/ Program Control to see that both Windows Media Player and Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service are set to Auto and Allow respectively. I have added the PS3 device under Trust Control and set it's Trust Level alternately from Protected to Full Trust, but I am still unable to see the contents of my WMP11 library on the PS3.
It shouldn't be this hard to share my media!!! Any suggestions would be appreciated.
