Unable to use Safe Mail

HI,

I’m having problems using SafeMail. My email provider is FastMail, FastMail, requires that every app has its own unique login password. But I notice that Safe Mail doesn’t ask me for a password! Is there a workaround for this?

FastMail is not currently listed among the email providers supported by Norton Safe Email. If you attempt to add a FastMail mailbox and receive a “mailbox is unsupported” message, that would be expected behavior based on Norton’s published support documentation.

FastMail is not currently listed among the email providers supported by Norton Safe Email. Because of that, I would not expect Norton Safe Email to successfully connect to a FastMail mailbox, regardless of whether FastMail uses app-specific passwords.

The fact that Safe Email never prompts for a password may be an indication that FastMail is not a supported provider rather than a problem with your FastMail app password configuration.

As a quick check, what happens when you try to add the mailbox? Do you receive an error such as “The mailbox is unsupported” or does the setup simply fail without prompting for credentials?

Also, Norton Safe Email support for macOS Tahoe 26.5.1 may depend on the Norton product version you are using.

Thanks for the follow-up, Des. The fact that setup fails without ever requesting credentials does tend to support the idea that FastMail may not be one of the providers currently supported by Norton Safe Email. Since FastMail’s own filtering is serving you well, there may not be much to gain by pursuing it further unless Norton adds FastMail support in the future.

Based on Norton’s documentation, Safe Email appears to support macOS. Since the setup never requests FastMail credentials and FastMail is not listed among the supported email providers, the issue may be related to provider compatibility rather than macOS Tahoe itself.

Norton documentation appears inconsistent.

Combined with FastMail not appearing on Norton’s supported-provider list, it’s difficult to determine whether the failure is due to FastMail support, macOS support, or a combination of both.
