While trying to download the Internet Threat Meter recommended by Norton, the process led to Uniblue Registry Booster (Gold partner of Microsoft) finding 1016 registry errors (putting me in highest risk category). I ran the Norton 360 Premier Registry Cleanup (v 5.1.0.29) again and found 0 errors.
In the previous 'solution' to a similar question, the discussion got shunted off to a restore issue and then was closed.
The trail implies that Norton approves of the Uniblue product - so why are the results so different, and what is the real condition of my laptop? I have lots of crashes that would suggest registry errors.
Hi tarsider,
If you are downloading the Threat Meter from the Symantec web site, there probably should not be anything there concerning Uniblue, which is not a part of Symantec. Norton would not endorse a competing product, so you may have gone to the wrong place. Uniblue is undoubtedly trying to convince you that you should purchase their product. Registry cleaners are not usually all that useful or necessary. I wouldn't give a lot of credence to what Uniblue might be reporting.
I'm curious to know from what url are you downloading the threat meter? I agree with the post above, that it doesn't sound like something Norton would do.
