Uninstallation Feedback

I was prompted to post this here by "Charlie," who responded to my Facebook message. 

"I'm taking the time to send this feedback here, because it wouldn't allow me to do so on the uninstall window. I don't need a direct response, but I would like this message to end up wherever "Tell us why you're leaving" messages end up: I uninstalled Norton Security from my MSI Gaming laptop just now.

The reason is simple: Firstly, I didn't ask for it to be on there. That's fine - pre-bundled software is a thing. I get that. But what I will not stand for is to be constantly harassed for subscription by a program I didn't ask for, with no option to make the alerts cease. The choice to have only "Renew now" or "Remind me later" was very obviously deliberate. A "cease alerts" option could have been made, and wasn't.

 

That's genuinely shitty and forceful, and I will not give my business to any company that behaves in such a way. If that weren't the nail in the coffin, the fact that the "Tell us why you are leaving" link literally didn't work, didn't load a box or take me to a feedback website? Yeah, that's not giving me any faith in your product skills.

 

"Norton" is already a holdover from the days of AOL-on-CD jokes. Business practices like this are misguided and condescending to the user. That's why I'm uninstalling, and why I think Norton is kind of a sham."
