I have a weird icon showing up, when I click on "Show Hidden Icons". I tried to add a copy of the hidden files and the suspicious icon is in the upper left. When I move my cursor over that icon, it disappears? My Norton, SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes haven't found anything suspicious. Can anyone name what this icon is and what it does?
Thank you for sharing the screenshot. The ids_systray tooltip is a Windows system process that manages the system tray icon. You don't need to worry about your personal files and configuration, this is a normal background process. You can hide it from the notification area by disabling it in Taskbar Settings.
- Click the Start button.
- Type Taskbar settings. and then press Enter.
- Scroll down to Notification area.
- Click Select which icons appear on the taskbar.
- Disable ids_systray tooltip.
If the issue persists, we suggest running [....]
SoulAsylum - I finally found additional information about that icon. I was able to hold the cursor on that icon, during the PC's startup. What came up was "IDS_systray_tooltip". There was an old Norton Community thread, from way back in February 2, 2018, that explained how to remove it. I tried following the instructions, but keep getting lost. Something to do with the Taskbar settings>notification area. I went there but didn't see that tooltip icon and all of the others were off.
Hello again, just following up to see what your status is. If you installed SuperAntiSpyware most likely something has been downloaded in the background with the permissions you gave SAS. Freeware most always will download bundled crapware in the background, most will appear the next restart.

Remove SUPERAntiSpyware and reboot. See if that icon disappears. Also check for MBAM being set to load with Windows start.
