Last week Norton came up with an AntiTrack update. I tried to update it several times, but most of the time I would go to a website and a Norton note to update would appear on the screen. I finally uninstalled AntiTrack and reinstalled it twice, but the update message still appears. Sometimes the tracking warning shows up by the taskbar icon and sometimes it doesn’t. I did open AntiTrack and it does list the sites trying to track me. I called Norton last week and I ended up hanging up because I was so frustrated. They just won’t listen. AntiTrack shows a version, but doesn’t even show a program size. All my other Norton programs do. I’m beginning to think I should look for another anti-virus supplier. I spend over $500 a year for my Norton programs.
du skal bare sige det til dem de vil gerne lytte til dig jeg hade en masse ting som jeg var sur over så lavede jeg en liste på 3 ting en anden hade en på 16 ting de lyttede til mig og ham så send mig en liste med ting du hader så sender jeg

Hi @nychucky ,
Can you please clarify which browser you are using when this pop-up asking for Norton Antitrack update occurs ? Firefox or an other browser ?
Thanks in advance.
Guillaume
I mostly use Firefox, but I never had a problem until this update. I have gone thru the computer and removed all remnants of the existing AntiTrack. I am going to reinstall it after I exit the Norton site. I’ll post the verdict tomorrow.
Hi @nychucky ,
I particularly draw your attention to this message from @nivasraja which provides a response to the problem that you reported with an official announcement of an upcoming update of the Firefox extension (v4.8.0) of Norton Antitrack resolving this problem soon.
Thank you for your patience !
Cheers.
Guillaume
Thanks for the information. I will hold off sending screen shots as I did reinstall my AntiTrack. The pop-ups still intermittently shows up to update AntiTrack. “Norton AntiTrack-Stay Protected With Latest App-The latest app must be installed for the AntiTrack browser to work.-Update App” This is accompanied with an orange triangle with an exclamation point inside it. Like I said before, the AntiTrack is working and shows sites and number of attempts to track my sites visited.

I am still getting the “Stay Protected With Latest App” message.at the top of my screen. My Norton AntiTrack is, and has been, working and I am getting tracking notices at the bottom of the screen. When I open AntiTrack I see who has been trying to track me. All my browsers are protected. When is Norton going to address this? The latest version on my PC is. 4.5.6658.13316, installed on 2/20/2026. PS: Is anyone having trouble wit the CAPTCHA at sign in? It just goes on and on and on?
Hi @nychucky ,
I draw your attention to this message from @nivasraja :
For Firefox, we’re working with Mozilla on a new extension build (v4.8.0). It will be rolled out to everyone as soon as it passes their review and approval process. Once published, the update should install automatically for you.
For now, we are still waiting for the availability of this plugin by Mozilla.
You still need a little patience…
Sorry !
More info soon !
Guillaume
Guillaume,
Thank you for the update. It’s is a little annoying having to delete the messages constantly, but as long as I know it is being worked on, I’ll try to be patient. (I did see your previous post, but I am a little reluctant to click on a link within a message.)
Thanks again,
cv
Hello All,
Thank you for taking the time to report this and for your patience while we work through it. We understand how frustrating it is to see repeated “Stay Protected With Latest App” prompts even after reinstalling Norton AntiTrack and confirming that tracking protection appears to be working normally.
What’s happening
This behaviour is related to the Norton AntiTrack browser extension for Firefox, which in some cases is incorrectly displaying an update warning even though the Norton AntiTrack application on your PC is already installed and functioning (for example, version 4.5.6658.13316 that you referenced).
The good news is that, as you’ve noted, Norton AntiTrack continues to block tracking attempts and list the sites trying to track you, and your browsers remain protected despite this incorrect notification.
Ongoing fix
We are actively working with Mozilla on a new Firefox extension build (version 4.8.0) specifically intended to resolve this issue. Once this build passes Mozilla’s review and approval process, it will be rolled out to all users via the Firefox add-ons update mechanism, and the update warning should stop appearing. The extension update will install automatically; no further action will be required from you once it is published.
What you can do in the meantime
- You can continue using Norton AntiTrack as normal; your tracking protection remains in place.
- If the “Stay Protected With Latest App” banner appears, it is safe to dismiss it while we complete the extension update.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes—especially given the investment you’ve made in Norton products—and we appreciate you staying with us while we finalize and deploy the fix.
Best Regards,
Nivas Raja R
