Updates’ email Notifications not Working Properly Again

Hi all,

I'm having the issue again, but I’m starting a new thread as I wasn’t sure if I could go on posting in the other “solved” thread.

For some of the threads I’m subscribed to, I’am again receiving the upadates’ email notifications long after the new message has been posted.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Laura

Hi Ed,

Thanks for replying.

My setting for email notifications has always been “use default (immediate)”, and when this feature works correctly I do receive them without delay.

This issue already occurred a few days ago, as per this other thread, and now I’m having it again, though it now seems to affect a few threads only.

I wonder if it is just me or is there anyone else having this issue?

Thanks

Laura

Hi Laura

If you are still having the subscription notification issue with only a

select number of threads have you tried to unsubscribe from the

the thread using Topic Options button top left, then unsubscribe

and then subscribe again using the same menu.

This might reboot the subscribe option for the particular threads

that the notifications are not working for.

Might be worth a try if you have not already done so. ?

As for the notification emails for the subscriptions i have not had

any issues since last weekends problems were fixed early last

week.

Good luck and i hope you issues are fixed soon. :smileyhappy:

Cheers. :smileywink:

Hi Smithy,

Sorry for the delay but I’ve been away for a few days.

The email notifications still work irregularly: sometimes they arrive without delay, at others they arrive with varying delay, even within the same thread, so this leads me to think that the problem couldn’t be related to my setting for the subscription notification. However I’ll now follow your suggestion to unsubscribe and then subscribe again for those threads for which the notifications are not working properly, and see if it helps.

I’ll come back with the results after having monitored the situation for a few days.

Many thanks for your advice,

Laura

Hi Laura,

The problem appears to be Lithium - the Forum app used by both Norton and Comcast.  There are similar reports on the Comcast Forum and it is a running joke over there that for everythingLithium fixes - they break two other things.  The Admins @ Comcast have reported this as have some users and the problems have ranged from late receipt of notifications, to notifications of threads that are not subscribed to.

Hopefully once it is fixed it is fixed for all Lithium forums.

I wonder if it's happening on Toshiba .... I'll ask one of the sysops there who is active in Compuserve.

Hi Yank,

Thanks a lot for the info, at least I know I’m not alone!

For the record, yesterday I did unsubscribe and subscribe again as said in my previous post, but this hasn’t helped unfortunately.

Waiting for Lithium to fix the issue then.

Laura

Hugh, many thanks for investigating…

Laura

The Tosh sysop I asked came back that his seemed to be OK so I gave him a fuller description of the kind of timing errors and asked if they had a Forum like this one specifically for Forum operation matters.

More later.

Hi,

I didn’t come back earlier because I was monitoring the situation.  Many times it seemed to have improved, but it never lasted for more than a couple of days at most.

Now the issue seems to have been fixed as I have been receiving updates regularly for more than a week now  :smileyhappy:.

Thanks all!

Laura
