Be sure to check that Automatic Updates are enabled in the General Options menu - This may solve the manual updating.
From what I'm hearing LiveUpdate has an issue with updates. Could you post screenshots of the process (Use the Print-Screen key on the top right of your keyboard, generally located at the end of your function keys with Home, Insert, End, etc) to assist us on solving the problem?
What sort of internet connection are you using (e.g. Are you updating via a Proxy) and what other software are you running that may be conflicting (e.g. Firewall)?
Cheers.
hi sk - the problem you describe was mentioned elsewhere and the solve seemed to be running a manual LiveUpdate (from this document).
if that doesn't work, i've heard that one click support's autofix may have a solve for this one. take the help and support link from the main program and click green button to begin.

You will not be able to see the actual content of the files, but the location of the files is C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Internet Security\NortonData\21.0.1.3\Definitions.
If you are looking for something else, let us know.
Hai yecart,
C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Internet Security\NortonData\21.0.2.1\Definitions\VirusDefs\20140202.003\whatsnew.TXT may help you to some extend.
You can also click on summary(lower left hand side) after you do a live update to see what went in. Although is also does not give any details.
Thanks everyone i was just curious. Malwarebytes just popped up and said the trial period is over! I thought i had the free version ?
You should only use the free version, anyway. The Pro version has real time protection which may conflict with Norton.

Hi yecart,
When you download and installed the Free Version of MBAM, it asks if you would like to Trial MBAM Pro - if you select that option you are actually running in real-time and may see a conflict.
Did you restart your computer after you got that Norton Update? A system restart is often necessary to have all interactions between software packages. Even though Norton says a restart is not necessary.
Hello WJ Follow these instructions, remove and reinstall your product: https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20080427024142EN_EndUserProfile_en_us
Cheers
You can reinstall Norton Family on the three PCs by following the steps below:
Please log onto your Norton Family online account, then scroll down to the "All Devices" section and click the button "Add Device" which is located at right hand side in the section. Then install Norton Family on the three monitored PCs individually.

Thanks

Uninstalling and reinstalling Norton 360 did not solve the Norton Family out of date issue.
I don't have a Norton family icon in the tray, only the Norton 360 icon.
Computers have been rebooted.
I keep having problems with Norton password manager on one computer so I am using the removal tool and reinstalling Norton 360. I'll see if that also helps with the Norton Family version when it is installed.
Hi sharieg,
First please go to the three PCs and check the version of Norton Family on them. The latest Norton Family updates to Windows client is 3.6.1.44. To find if you have the latest version, please click the Norton Family icon in the system tray and select “About Norton Family”.
Norton Family's updates are sent to users via Automatic LiveUpdate. When the update is available to your machine via LiveUpdate, you will see a small popup on the screen and ask user to reboot device to make the program install successfully.
As why they are not updated, it's possible the PCs haven't been rebooted yet, so please reboot them to see if this helps to update.
If you still don't have the latest version after reboot, please log onto your Norton Family online account, then scroll down to the "All Devices" section and click the button "Add Device" which is located at right hand side in the section. Then install Norton Family on the three monitored PCs individually.
As for your comments "When I have it check for updates, it says there are none", I think you were checking the update option for Norton Security (I mentioned how Norton Family gets updated earlier). Norton Security and Norton Family are two different programs and they get updated differently. You get the Norton Family Premier version as it is given to the Norton Security Premier version (or other premier versions) users for free. The are combined together to make user's initial installation easier.
Thanks
Katie
