I am going to be updating my MAC in the next few months. I’m not sure yet if I’m going to migrate my data with time machine or do a clean install of all my programs.
What is the best way to transfer my Norton 360 program/info to my new MAC? If I do a clean install l should I uninstall Norton from my old MAC first?
Any guidance you can give would be appreciated. I’m trying to have a seamless transfer with no problems when I switch computers.
@shellcoder Can you assist? TIA.

For Norton 360 on a Mac, the smoothest approach is usually:
If You Use Apple’s Migration Assistant / Time Machine
Migrate your applications and data to the new Mac.
After migration completes, check whether Norton is functioning normally.
Even if Norton appears to transfer, many experienced users prefer to download and install a fresh copy of Norton on the new Mac and then sign in to their Norton account. This ensures all system extensions, permissions, and background components are properly registered with the new macOS installation.
If You Do a Clean Install (my preferred approach)
Set up the new Mac.
Sign in to your Norton account.
Download and install Norton 360 directly from Norton.
Activate it using your existing subscription.
Verify that:
Real-Time Protection is enabled
Safe Web extensions are installed (if you use them)
VPN is configured (if you use Norton VPN)
Any Password Manager extensions are signed in and syncing properly
Should You Uninstall Norton from the Old Mac First?
No.
I would leave Norton installed and working on the old Mac until:
The new Mac is fully configured.
You’ve confirmed Norton is activated and functioning properly.
You’ve transferred any files and settings you need.
Once you’re satisfied everything is working on the new Mac, you can:
Uninstall Norton from the old Mac, or
Simply remove the old Mac from your Norton device list if you are no longer using it.
Check Your Device Count
Before the move, sign in to your Norton account and verify how many device licenses your subscription allows. Most Norton 360 plans allow multiple devices, so temporarily having Norton active on both Macs during the transition is usually not a problem.
One Item to Pay Special Attention To
If you use:
Norton Password Manager
Norton VPN
Cloud Backup (Windows only, not available on Mac)
make sure you know your Norton account credentials before starting the migration. For Password Manager users, it’s also wise to confirm you know your vault password and recovery options before switching computers.
For a typical Mac replacement, my sequence would be:
Set up new Mac.
Install Norton fresh from your account.
Confirm activation and functionality.
Transfer remaining data.
Use the new Mac for a few days.
Remove Norton from the old Mac and retire the machine.
That approach gives you a fallback if anything unexpected occurs during the migration and avoids being unprotected during the transition.

Caveat: I’m not Mac
I would recommend a clean installation. Also, you don’t need to worry about transferring your Norton license to the new machine. You can simply log in to your Norton account, remove your Mac’s license, and use the vacated slot to install it on the new Mac

Thanks, a clean install seems to be the best way to go with all my apps and plug ins.
