Upgrade from NIS 2011 to NIS 2012 - What happens to Existing Subscription Days ?

I have been a NIS for several years . I have NIS 2011 currently installed in my computer and has about 5 months still left in my Subscription.

 

However I have recently purchased the latest NIS2012 version but have been advised not to install it till the expiry of the NIS2011 subscription as it will overwrite my existing / remaining Subscription days :smileysad: 

 

Could someone from Norton confirm if such is the case ? Will I lose all my remaining Subscription days if I install NIS 2012 over NIS 2011 ?

 

Is there a workaround ?
