I searched for this exact question, but I failed. Sorry if this question is in the archives.
I want to use Ghost 15 to clone externally mounted system drives (drives which have an OS on them, but that OS is not running at the time). Does it do that?
Please note that I do not want a clone of the system drive on which Ghost is installed, just external ones via USB 3.0.
And I know that it is discontinued and does not work on W-8.
Hi,
If I understand you correctly you want to make a one time backup of a USB drive to a backup location with the intent of restoring that backup onto a drive you can then go to and boot the operating system. Correct?
If so then it can be done but you may need to use the SRD so that all of the bits and bytes get copied correctly and completely.
Keep us posted

baroque-quest,
Which OS do you plan to clone?
To help you do this we need to understand what you plan to do with the cloned drives.
The OS that Ghost will be installed and running on will be Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
The disks I want to clone will be XP, Vista, or 7 system disks.
I want to have both the source and destination disks mounted via USB 3.0.
I want to do this to copy ailing system disks before they completely fail.
Please ignore this double post; I do not see a delete button.
OK. That can be done but I wouldn't recommend it as there is a good chance the cloned drives will not boot. Drive geometry reasons. Ideally, the source and target drives should be mounted internally in the computer where they will be used.
