Using products outside country of purchase

Hi all!

So my norton antivirus is going to expire pretty soon and I'm planning on upgrading to a norton one protection system for the coming year. I had a question regarding this....

I'm currently in India and I'm moving to the US for the next couple of years. If my antivirus expires before my departure and I upgrade to norton one in my home country, will I be eligible for all benefits for the rest of the year while I'm in the US or should I wait till I get there (and thus leave my comp vulnerable to new viruses for a week or two) before I purchase a copy of norton one?

Thanks in advance,

Arkal

Hi arkal

Your Norton product will be valid for the time left on the subscription.  So if today you upgrade in one country and then tomorrow you go to another country you will have the same full protection available.

You may be able to select the language the product will be in when upgrading and selecting the download.

If you wait so there is one day left on your subscription then pay for and download the version of Norton one you require and the removal tool then perform the below.

As you have AV now and Norton one offers NIS or 360 it is recommended that you follow the instructions below.  Also you’ll need to remove any other firewall or security software.

To uninstall any security software use the windows add/remove programme first, then restart the computer, then run the removal tool for the specific version of the security software that is available from the security software’s main site, then restart the computer.  This process should be done for each security software to be uninstalled, meaning one at a time.

Norton removal tool.

Install Norton, run live updates as many times as it takes to get, no more live updates, restarting as required.

You might like to backup the personal data and you’ll need to backup or export in both formats your identity safe and any other users identity safe if it is used, before doing the above.

Welcome,
Because of the various trade agreements it might be best to avoid their problems. I'd suggest that you let your current product expire, download a trial copy of any Norton product, they are all full versions, for the short period you are between countries and then purchase a subscription in the US. You can then activate Norton One and all should be well until you return.

Hi arkal

To sort out any confusion you may have.

Try live chat on the keyboard with a Norton representative on the link below.  Vary the times of day you try, as it’s difficult to know when they are busy.

arkal,

Are you sure that Norton One is available in India yet? I don't see it listed on http://in.norton.com/products/

Oh darn i'm so sorry i messed up.... I'm thinking of upgrading to Norton 360!! Thanks for pointing that out!

Also, another reason i'm asking is because i do not see a 1yr/1pc option on the US website for norton 360 (which is there in the indian website)! So either i buy it in India and use it in the US or i go there and find 2 other people willing to split it with me!

You can find 1 user 1 PC versions of some Norton products in the stores and on the internet here but I'm fairly sure that Norton 360 for 1` PC is not available at least from sources I have any confidence in. You can buy N 360 for 3 users here for $24 from reputable on line sources like Amazon -- how does that compare with your India price?

Please note that the licence you accept on a 3 PC version is limited to other PCs in the user's household, which can include children away in college etc, but you can't just sell a KEY to someone else. Even sharing with friends has a downside in that all installations have to be activated in one Norton account using the same email address and password .......
