I have Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007.I am really pretty dumb when it comes to using this stuff. How safe is it to use the free templates from the microsoft website?
For example I needed a simple invoice so I have just downloaded it.....now here is where my "dumbness" comes in once you have that template there is no connection to who ever created it or to the website.I know it smacks of paranoia and lack of knowledge concerning these things .However I would like to be enlightened if anyone could enlighten me to how it all works regarding using Templates etc for Office.

Thanks so much!
Hi mo
It is safe to use these templates - they are produced in-house by Microsoft.
I don't recollect ever using any non-MS ones so I cannot comment on them with any element of certainty. I would assume, since they are on the MS site, that they are safe but we come across people in the forums all the time who have assumed things to be safe. I guess an element of caution if you do download and use them would be called for - as you already know.
For what it's worth, I have used several of the templates available and have never had any issues with them. I've never actually checked to see whether they were Microsoft or other.

The same by me.
I think if anybody is allowes to upload the templates (somehow, I never saw an upload page :P) Microsoft will/must check it, as the templates are available for many millions of people, and they can not publish files with any threat... That would be a very very big mistake from them.
Thanks Guys and Gals...the paranoia is put to rest...and for what it is worth I already used it.... so too late now me thinks! Glad I can come here and ask!
