Utilizing a stand-alone Ghost (10?) backup of a Compaq Presario v2665us Recovery Partition

Hello, and thanks in advance for any help.  I appreciate it.  Also, feel free to point me to the proper place and-or existing threads with answers; my computer’s dead and I’ve limited access to another so I can’t really search for answers.  My Compaq Presario v2665us that was running Windows XP Home SP3 has ceased functioning due to a combination of a virus and my own stupidity; thus, I need to completely wipe the HDD to rid it of any viral traces.  All the hardware is fine, however.  On an external drive I have a 2+ year old  Norton Ghost–I’m pretty sure 10, but not quite certain as I lost my Ghost during a reinstall last year–backup of my Recovery Partition D:, a folder that contains a 6.7 MB .v2i file and a 4 KB .sv2i file.  My question is: what are my options for using that Norton Ghost backup to restore my OS?  That is, how can I utilize the backup when I don’t have Norton Ghost installed, let alone an installed Windows?  Is it possible to turn it into a bootable CD?  Or can I somehow convert it to a non-Norton format, say as if I’d simply copy-pasted it instead of using Norton?  Unfortunately I’m in a small town in Thailand without my Compaq Recovery CD or my Norton Ghost CD, so my options are limited.  I can get access to a computer with an internet connection and various software for converting/burning, but I need to have a plan when I use it because it’s pay by the minute.  Again, thanks very much for your time.
