hi, i downloaded norton vpn today. everything is working apart from access to my Vault. it asks for my password, which i haven’t set, and then offers the option of a hint. HOMETOWN, which i enter, and it says incorrect. any ideas. thanks in advance
The hint is something you set up when setting up the vault. It should not be your vault password. But it should be something that would help you remember the correct password.
But for security reasons, Norton websites, including the Norton Password Manager website, will block access from known VPN IP addresses. Even their own VPN.
Hi. Thanks for that. My problem is, is that i didn’t set up the vault when i was installing everything so i don’t know what the original password is. Thats why i queried how a hint for the password that i didn’t setup is of any use to me. Ideally i would set up my own password , but it appears i have to unlock the vault to do any resets and to do that i need the PASSWORD??? I just seem to be going around in circles and i don’t know if i reset the vault whether i will lose all the data i have in my Edge Password Managet because they appear to be linked
If you did not set up the vault, who did? The only way to set up a vault is to first set a password.
That is my dilemma .i didn’t set it up. I installed the other parts of the programme, thought i had instalied the password manager via the app, and later on received an email saying to finish the installation and thats when i arrived at where i am now. I’ve sent norton a query through their support section and just wait for a reply

In your opening post, you mention downloaded Norton VPN…then you mention installing the other parts of the program. What other parts of what program? Are you running Norton 360 which includes Norton Secure VPN. What Norton program did you download? What Norton program/s are you running?
Why do “they” appear to be linked?
Did you set up Edge built-in password manager?
You’re concerned resetting Norton Password Manager will wipe Edge password manager data?
Why do you imagine Norton Password Manager is linked to Edge password manager?
btw ~ when you sort whatever “this” is…may be best to run one password manager because they’ll bump into each other…for example: Norton Password Manager + Chrome password manager

hi, without being rude, i may be old, but i’m not stupid. the only password i set up was my password for norton, which before you ask, i’ve tried as my vault password. and the set up for norton vpn includes dark web protection, sms protection, phone protection and these are all seperate steps in the norton setup. and if i had set up a vault password it would be in my edge passport manager. it’s not. constructive help would be welcome

Does Norton Password Manager install with Norton Secure VPN Plus/Ultimate installer or did you pull Norton Password Manager extension from Chrome store?

When Norton Password Manager prompts me with Unlock vault. I’ve used my (user created) Norton account credentials and will use my (user created) vault password.
Note: one Norton Password Manager vault per Norton account
When Norton prompts you with Unlock vault…you’ve presumably used your (user created) Norton account credentials…and Unlock vault is prompting you for your (user created) vault password.
When Norton Password Manager prompts you Unlock vault (and you’ve never created a Norton Password Manager vault password) … then you’re trying to access another users Norton Password Manager vault with your (user created) Norton account credentials.

Had the same problem turns out I had set up the Vault ages ago and forgot. If the hint isn’t helping, try resetting the Vault password through your Norton account online. Go to the Password Manager section and look for the reset option. It’ll wipe the old vault but let you start fresh.
