Virus and spyware definitions not up to date

I keep getting the error message "Virus and spyware definitions are not up to date" from Norton and Windows. I removed and re-installed Norton 360 as suggested and obviously I tell Norton to upload all the latest definitions but I still keep getting the messages. Any ideas? Playsmith.

Hi Dave, the time and date for Windows is correct. I couldn't find a time and date setting for Norton - perhaps you could advise further. The really frustrating thing is, Norton puts up the message "Your spyware and virus definitions are out of date" and I hit the "Fix Now " button, then the box appears which tells me all my definitions are up to date, then as soon as I click "OK", I get the red error message. It's driving me crazy

@ playsmith,

When in doubt -  reboot.

Sometimes it works after running a Fix Now!

Yep - I've tried re-booting and restarting. I've uninstalled and re-installed and still it keeps doing the same. I've now got an official error code which is

Norton 360 Premier Edition
6.2.1.5
Error: 8507, 125
Microsoft Windows XP
2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.120411-1615
Norton Autofix Results: 0 item(s)

I can't find any support articles for error 8507,125.  Are you sure that is the exact code?

You could try downloading the latest virus definitions from the Intelligent Updater found here.  -   http://www.symantec.com/security_response/definitions/download/detail.jsp?gid=savce.  Be sure to download the exact set for your system and whether it is 32 bit or 64bit.

Dave.

Hi Dave I am embarrassed to say it is all fixed now and it was down to my stupidity. When I checked the date and time last night I found the calendar was set for June, not May so I altered it and, hey presto, everything back to normal. The worrying thing is that the first thing you suggested was check the date and time, and I did, and I thought it was OK so perhaps I am losing it big time. Thanks for your help andI am sorry for being an idiot

Hahaha.... All good!  That is an easy enough mistake to make.  :smileywink:  Just as long as your problem is solved.

Thanks for letting us know.

Dave.
