Hi delphinium,

Thanks for the offering to help.

However, I do not have a norton antivirus tool in my PC, which is why I dl the AVG 8.5.

So there is only 1 antivirus engine on my PC.

Any other means to dl norton or can I provide any other logs to you?

Thanks.

You have to be a Norton user for this Forum

Quads

Hi Quad,

Alright, where can i get Norton?

laven:

Rather than going to the expense of purchasing a different antivirus product, and since you have AVG already, why not go to the AVG forum for assistance.

hi delphinium,

the avg website u posted do no help.

for every post that asked for help to their PC issues, the moderator just refer to a general page.

No specific help.

Probably I shld change to a new antivirus in Norton, which has youself and Quads to help us.

Else, my virus and browser hijack can never be solve.

Any place to get this product online?

Purchase it here or you could search for a boxed version at a local retailer (you may find some deals now as 2010 versions are fixing to come out soon; they are in BETA now.  And do not worry, your subscription to 2009 product will transfer for free to the 2010 product when it is released.)

Hi Laven:

You will need to run the AVG removal tool several times to remove all of it.  You may also not get a good installation of the Norton product, I would recommend Norton Internet Security, until the rootkit gets removed.

Let us know if you need further assistance with the change-over.

Guys,

Really appreciate the time and effort spent here to resolve my issue.

I just performed a AVG scan last night and found over 600 .exe and .dll files in my C:/windows/system32 folder hit with trojans.

After reboot as prompted by AVG, all these files were moved to virus vault.

When I tried to open any application, the system cannot find these applications.

Today, I restore all these infected files from the virus vault and all are functioning properly.

But then, I am hit with the rootkit and browser hijack issue again.

Any idea how can i remove all these 2 issues + the trojan files without reformatting?

If you have over 600 infected files and dlls then the system is beyond repair.  I really don't like telling people this fact but that is just too much of the OS / file system / programs installation to properly repair with out reformatting and reinstalling the OS.

After you do that, I would like to suggest you get a good security suite (one with an antivirus and a firewall) similar to that offered in Norton Internet Security 2009 or 2010.

Good luck.

Guys,

Thanks for the help rendered. Am getting help from other forum.

Thanks again.
