Virus popup on Android phone

Hi,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Today I visited www.101greatgoals.com but the page was a little but slow so I taped the screen. Suddenly a popup appeared, saying that my Andriod was affected     with a virus. I pressed back and then there was an installation bar on one of the ads.

I have Norton Mobile Security installed on my device so I did a search immediately but Norton couldn´t find anything suspicious. I´ve also cheacked download history but I can´t find anything there either.

But I´m still a little bit anxious, do I have to be that? Is there anything else I should check?

Is it possible to get a virus without installing an app?

I also have it and it's url is: http://y46fsafe.com/?zoneid=881673&sz=881673&id=

I’ve read that this problem is from adware running on the servers, there’s either malicious or damaged java code. Take a screen shot and send it to the website admin. It could also be from an app on your phone, I guess it’s not true malware, so Norton can’t catch it.

Hi

My Samsung suffered somthing very similar, what I did to cure it was go to Setting, then Application Manager and delete the cache and data from 3 apps, Briefing, Flipboard, and Internet, disabled them all and played around with the phone and it appeared to be fine. I then enabled Internet and it appeared to be working fine, I then enabled Flipboard and Briefing and it all appears to be fine. I have Chrome disabled as well. So far my phone has remained clear.

From your screenshot, I see no warning about the app. The red marks are just part of the  app's logo.

If you are referring to the App Advisor showing a high risk. You need to look at the permissions the app is asking of your device. Then it is up to you if you agree to allow the app to have thatcontrol

I scanned my phone with Norton and it reported high risk on my barcode-app. I have used it for years. Also Google docs. Why are these high risk applications? Google spreadsheet too... See attachment

Same problem here. Was surfing on a Toyota forum page. Tried to reboot the phone but it got in to a loop with "starting android and the apps" again and again. Reinstalled android via SONY windowssoftware and USB cable. Phone was OK a week. Now same thing happened again. This time from a Hifi page. First time AVG was installed. It hang. Now scanned with Norton.

Close your browser. Go to Android Settings - Apps and look for your browser. Clear the app cache and app data. Restart the phone.

Now do not go back to the last site you were viewing. It seems the site is infected and popping up these false warnings trying to sell you a phoney anti virus app.

How do get rid of this?? It has my browser(Google Chrome) locked and I cannot get anything else to come up. I have several, even some with Google chrome logo saying the same thing. However, there are no reputable names in the address bar. Now there is something from"antivirus.alladroidapps.org" It says

"Google

Your system is heavily damaged by (4)virus!

We detect y\that your Samsung Galaxy S5 is 28.1%  because harmful viruses from recent adult sites.Soon it will damage your phone's SIM card"

OOPS! NOW the phone has been switched to some app called "360 Security - Antivirus Boost"

Help! I cant' figure out what's real and what's not!

I will stick with my original thought about the screens you are seeing being a scam to try to get you to click on something bad, or to try to get you to purchase a phony security app.

The images you show have no mention of Norton or Norton logos. They are not Norton warnings. I would avoid the web site that is giving you the pop ups.

Hi peterweb,

And thanks for you reply.

I cleaned the history in my web browser and visited the page again. And the same popup appeared so I took two print screens. They are in swedish but it says:

The first one:

"on the embedded site redirect.silotab.com:
Warning
Your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has been infected with a virus.
You have to scan and remove the virus now."

The second one:

"Virus has been discovered.
These virus will damage the telephones sim card and will destroy you contacts, photos, data, program ie.
Whait during scanning."

Without seeing your screen, it is hard to say just what happened. If you have scanned your phone and come up clean I would suggest you are OK.

What you might have seen is a false notification to try to get you to buy a product to clean your device.
