Vista Antivirus Pro 2010 problems....

To anyone that can help,

I have run into the infamous vista antivirus pro 2010 version and am having trouble getting it off my computer.   It originally hijacked my windows updates and windows defender so that I am being told that I have new important updates to install.  I never install anything without looking at is first (except this time) however the "view updates" option was not available.  I found this weird but didn't think much about it, so I clicked install.  Big mistake, this dumped the full virus onto my system so that I was getting constant pop-ups, fake system scans telling me I am compromised, and recommendations to buy the product to remove vulnerabilities.

After doing some web searching about how to remove this program manually, I found several sources but their info and specific files to remove were outdated.  I could not find any of the .exe files or stuff they mentioned that should have been in my registry.  I performed a System Restore and this backed me up to before I installed the full virus, so now I have a constant official looking windows update message that tells me I need to install some files.  Windows defender is totally hijacked and directs me to the same install pop-up.

I have run the Norton scan and it does not identify anything wrong with my system but I know this stupid virus is there somewhere and I am worried I will not be able to do a proper system update until I find it and remove it.

Any help is much appreciated.  If you are an admin, please do what it takes to update your virus library to include the latest iteration of this file.

Thanks.
