VPN always disconnected when I log in

Hi, I am not sure how the VPN works. I have this feature turned to automatic, but every time I open the computer, or the android phone it shows that it is disconnected. Is this normal? It also had the secure tab off but not the compromised tab. I moved them both to ON. I saw some recommendations about logging on as if I were on a different country, but I am afraid to do anything like that. I am elderly and not technically oriented as you can probably notice. I am in FL, US region. Thanks,

AG

Edit:
VPN will automatically turn of on for unsecure or compromised WiFi networks and turn off for secure networks.

Unless the Auto-Connect feature is turned on. Then the VPN will be turned on automatically every time the system is started.

peterweb:
On Windows, you need to turn on the Auto-Connect setting to start the VPN when Windows starts.

Auto-Connect
Automatically connect Secure VPN when your computer starts up or returns from hibernate or sleep mode.

peterweb:
The Automatic setting will turn the VPN on when it detects an unsecured network. It does not turn the VPN on when the device is started.

Auto VPN
VPN will automatically turn of for unsecure or compromised WiFi networks and turn off for secure networks.

Thank you peterweb, if you do not mind can you clarify the windows Auto-Connect comment, do I need to turn it on everyday when I turn on my computer or as you said in the first paragraph in will turn itself on? Thanks

The Automatic setting will turn the VPN on when it detects an unsecured network. It does not turn the VPN on when the device is started.

On Windows, you need to turn on the Auto-Connect setting to start the VPN when Windows starts.

On Android, just turn the VPN on manually. That setting will remain until you manually turn it off again.
