VPN connected but no internet connection

Looks like a recent update to Norton 360 might have introduced this bug. I have managed to replicate this issue by doing the following:

1: Connect Norton VPN

2: Disconnect router from the internet

3: Connect router to the internet again

4: Connect Norton VPN again (We have to do this cause Norton 360 for macOS doesn't support auto-connect feature, ROCKET SCIENCE!!)

5: Repeat the above steps

Now, even if there's internet connection and Norton VPN is connected, internet connection won't work at all. Disconnecting Norton VPN is the only solution or restarting the Mac. Connect/Disconnect Norton VPN won't work until and unless the machine is restarted. It's been a while my internet connection has not been stable, that's how I managed to find this issue.

Please fix this bug and get Norton 360 for Mac features to the level of Norton 360 for Windows

Norton 360 Premium 8.7.0

MacBook Pro 16

macOS 11.6

When Norton VPN is activated, all Internet connection is blocked. Restarting, or re-installing Norton, does not solve the issue. Including waiting time,  I spent three hours in online chat with Norton advisers who were also unable to fix this issue, even with what was intended to be a patch. A link one of them sent me was inactive and what was supposed to be another link was a blank template: the adviser had omitted to paste in the link. I have given up and am (very reluctantly) using a third party VPN. I am running Mac OS 11.16. And I've cancelled my renewal subscription.

I can often replicate this issue on both routers. I have to disconnect Norton VPN to connect to the internet. If Norton VPN is connected then there's no internet connection at all. VPN will start working only after restarting the machine. I have noticed this happens very often since last update. Please fix this bug!!

Just found another instance too when VPN is connected--there's no internet. My MPB was connected to VPN and then I went to eat lunch and put it to sleep by docking it. After having lunch, came back and undocked it, there's no internet connection! Disconnected VPN and internet connection is working again. Connected VPN again and there's no internet connection

Update on this issue: If I switch to another router then it works but if I switch back to previous router then it won't work at all. Not sure if it's a bug in Norton or my router?

Hi:

I am using Norton 360 on an iPad Air. I was trying to update the OS, but the updates were failing. Furthermore, I noticed that the Wi-Fi indicates "no internet connection." I have the VPN active  going through Norton 360. When I launch Norton 360. The software seems to stall. Norton 360 seems to stop at the first page after launching the software.

I would appreciate some direction on how to troubleshoot this issue.
