VPN Drains Battery

I had Norton Security for Mac but when I was offered a free upgrade to Norton 360, I took the offer. So I am now running Norton 360 version 8.6 on my MacBook Pro. I have the latest MacOS 11.01. I would like to remove the VPN feature completely because all it does is cause problems. When I do manage to turn it on, it interferes with my outgoing emails preventing me from sending them (I use Apple Mail). Most of the time I find it has disconnected when I turn on my computer so I no longer try to connect it. But the main problem is, even with it disconnected, the Activity Monitor shows it to be using significant energy making my battery charge much shorter. Is there any way to remove the VPN feature from Norton 360?

VPN, while turned off (disconnected), continues to drain my battery despite the fact that it's not meant to. I have been using Norton products for many years but am at a point where their issues are going to make me never use them again. Are there any Norton products for Mac that don't include VPN?

The VPN feature is embedded in the latest Norton 360 products, so there is no way just remove the VPN. If the feature is in fact off, it should not be using any system resources/battery. But I am not a Mac user so let's hear from other Mac users. I'll ask your thread be moved to the Mac board for better exposure.

Your issue with your email is not uncommon for VPN users. Your email provider sees you signing into their system from a different IP address than they are used to seeing for your account. So they think someone else may be trying to access your account and to protect you, they block access until you can confirm it is you.
