VPN for Android identifies home network as compromised

every time I join my home network VPN for Android says my network is compromised. Norton 360 says my network is secure with strong encryption so I am confident the VPN is wrong. In VPN settings I have turned off the VPN (I only turn it on when joining an outside network) and I have also turned off unsecure network alerts. So why does it keep alerting me to a supposedly insecure network. I asked support for help and they said just ignore the message but thats not helpful especially as the message blocks out everything until you close it down. They also suggested changing my network password but thats didnt help.

Apart from uninstalling the VPN any suggestions as to how to stop this please

It sounds like you have both the 360 VPN and the standalone Norton Secure VPN apps installed. If so, what you may be seeing is that 360 is protecting your network connection and the standalone VPN detects Norton’s intervention as compromising your network.

This kind of issue is one that causes Norton to recommend only having one or the other app installed. Having the VPN feature in 360 means that you do not need to install the separate VPN app.

So although you do not want to hear this, removing the standalone app is what is recommended.

Ah, brilliant thanks very much - thats very helpful - I didnt realise the 360 app had VPN in it so deleting the separate VPN seems to solve my problem. Now, why couldnt support have told me that? Thanks for your help

Support, unfortunately, generally only runs off the scripts they are given. In the forums here, we have actually used the products.

I thought this was the solution and deleted Norton VPN but unfortunately Norton 360 is still giving this same error message - Norton 360 confirms the network is secure with a strong password but then it says its compromised every time I join the network. Any suggestions please how I can stop it doing this as the warning is intrusive. apart from deleting norton 360 of course

thanks

Try going Android Setting > Apps and tap on Norton 360 and then clear the app data. Restart the device and then open the 360 app again. You will have to sign into your Norton Account again to reactivate your app. Then test to see if you still see this issue.
