VPN keeps logging off

For the last several months VPN keeps asking me to log in again and it takes 2-3 times to get it done.  It will randomly (I think) sign me off.  When I re-enter credentials it will start up the revert back to signed out mode.  I re-enter creds and then it tells me wrong sign in or password.  Usually , the 3rd time works.  But it worries me that some one or thing is recording my keystrokes.

Anyone else have this issue?

I think it got fixed. It has been working for several days and I did not do any thing different.

Someone in this thread mentioned GOOGLE. I too have the same problem logging off and having to log back on. I am now in to 12 hours with no problems. I use Brave Browser,,, I had the same problem with Brave as all of you have described. What I changed is I switched to "DUCKDUCKGO.COM"  It is an Extension that can be added to Chrome and Brave. I feel that "GOOGLE" is the problem. Never been this long without having to Log back in to Norton Secure VPN. Hope this Helps. I am Satisfied with the Norton Security VPN now that I do not have the Logging out Problem

Gmail/Google services are all tied to the same Google Account. It is the Account that is giving the warning message.

Thanks peterweb!  It's just when using Google search for me...

and the constant messages from Google that 'suspicious activity' has been detected from the IP address Norton's uses, so you have to do a Captcha once or twice a day.

This is a 'security feature' of Google/Gmail that thinks someone else is trying to log into your email/Google Account. I saw this same behaviour with another paid VPN provider before I moved to the Norton VPN. So it is not just a Norton issue.

The problem continues.  That along with the horrible download speeds at times, and the constant messages from Google that 'suspicious activity' has been detected from the IP address Norton's uses, so you have to do a Captcha once or twice a day.  These forums are ignored by Nortons.  For a product I've used for years I'm just floored by the poor customer service they now have.  Did they get sold and have all new personnel or something?

So there seems to be no fix for this (other than using another provider). Guess its a 'wait it out' situation then.

NordVPN was hacked recently so might be an idea to look into this before using them!

I've cancelled my subscription and gone to NordVPN.

I am adding my disgust for the VPN log off problem. I have to re-log in several times a day.

Sounds like I don't need to waste my time with Support and look for a better VPN product, Any recommendations?

I am using Windows 10.

I don't have this problem on my iphone and ipad.

I have found that many times I'm thrown off VPN and lose internet connection I have been connected to addresses 23.229.16.67 and 23.229.16.68.  Not able to connect with the internet even though VPN says "connected" to these addresses.

I think they ignore these posts because they want us to individually contact tech support so it appears to be just a few random event rather than a more widespread bug.  I get logged off at least once a day...

I happened to be looking at the screen when this happened today - the VPN window popped up with "No internet connection" momentarily before displaying the usual logon request.  The internet was connected the whole time (or at least, it was still working after the VPN error and nothing else stopped working).  I wonder if the VPN is just really susceptible to a momentary loss of connection?

BTW do Norton even monitor these threads?  I'm disappointed they haven't got involved in this one.

Then I went to another computer on the same network and found a similar condition of VPN but there was not internet access.

VPN address:  23.229.16.68    No Connection    Date: 12/15/19   Got repeated ErrorID:  8682527e-b0f3-43b7-b935-675b6e744096
Then after several tries reconnected even though the VPN says secure connection there was no internet connection with it. Reconnected to same address secure again but no internet connection.
Quit VPN and started again this time connecting with Chicago, 89.187.180.208.  Says secure
Connection but there is no internet access.
Rebooted computer: VPN reconnected to 192.186.132.253  secure access. Internet access restored.
Time lost 36 min.

This is really bogus!!

Now my VPN is preventing me from accessing my Norton Password manager.  I had to turn it off to get the passwords to work!!!

Frustrating!!!

Hi Canopus,

I feel for you. I have the same problem during the 1st week of subscribing to Norton 360 premium. I switched back to my Third Party VPN instead of using the absolute unreliable Norton VPN. Norton internet security is really good but not Norton VPN.

I recommend you try a Third Party VPN, at least try the VPN with 7 days free trial period. Choose one that meets your pricing and speed.

Judging from all the complaints about Norton VPN on slow speed and frequent dropouts and no notification, Norton VPN is really a poor product.

Please look for a Third Party VPN to protect your internet.

Good observations.  I've also done some sleuthing when I received warnings that I could not order things from Canada and found that my choice of having virtual locations from within the US was being ignored and my virtual location was in Ontario.  I've also noticed some atrociously slow upload and download speeds at some sites.

Not Good!!!

Your experience and conclusion echos my own, Canopus. I'm reminded of the days when programs were loaded onto one's hard disk and a checklist had to be maintained in order of ensure reliable operation of same. Time-consuming, inefficient and unreliable!

Having Norton VPN as part of Norton 360 and not as a separate program has turned out to be a nightmare. Previously when having Norton Security and Norton VPN as two separate programs I could at least notice in the system tray if the VPN connection was lost. Now with Norton 360 there is no Norton VPN icon in the system tray so I have absolutely no clue if there’s an active VPN connection or not, unless I right-click on the Norton 360 icon, select Open Secure VPN and then wait until the app window finally opens. But, of course, with Norton VPN, nine times out of ten the connection is no longer active.

Surely this is a joke? Secure VPN should 1) auto-connect as soon as the connection is lost, or at least warn me that the connection is no longer active, and 2) always display the current state of the VPN connection with an icon in the system tray. Unfortunately I have a two year subscription for Norton 360 Premium, but I will most certainly switch to something that actually works when it runs out unless Norton fixes these problems. Why should I support a program that doesn't do what it's advertised to do?
