If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them:
Yes, Norton 360 VPN commonly prevents printing because the VPN isolates your device from the local network your printer uses for communication. This is a normal function of a VPN designed to secure all network traffic, but it can be resolved through specific setting adjustments.
Solutions to Enable Printing with Norton VPN Active
The most secure methods involve adjusting your Norton 360 settings to allow local network communication without fully disabling the VPN.
Here are a few options to resolve this issue:
Option 1: Enable Local Device Access (Recommended)
Within the Norton 360 application’s VPN settings under the Privacy section, there is an option called “Access Local Devices with VPN”. Enabling this setting allows your computer to communicate with local devices, including your printer, while the VPN remains active.
Option 2: Use Split Tunneling
Norton VPN offers a Split Tunnel feature that lets you choose which applications use the VPN and which bypass it. In the VPN settings, enable Split Tunnel and add your printer’s executable file (like HP Smart.exe) or the printer’s IP address to the exclusion list.
Option 3: Adjust Firewall Network Trust Level
Ensure your home network is set to a trusted level in your Norton Firewall settings.
Configure your home network’s Trust Level to “Private”.
