I foolishly downloaded several apps, and caught a virus or two. Norton Internet Security removed these, but I found that I still had an unwanted process: WebShield Service (32 bit), which showed up in Task Manager/Processes, but did not show up in Task Manager/Services. When running Norton Bootable Recovery Tool, it aborted with instruction to search for "WHEA_UNCORRECTIBLE_ERROR". This confirmed my suspicion that WebShield was a bad actor. I have searched and found folder under Users/<my_Name>, but am not sure how to uninstall everything. It does not show up under System/Apps and Features. I am not sure if it is related or not but I occasionally see a warning from Norton about excessive data transfers to the Internet, and a suggestion to do a deep cleaning. I did this once, and inadvertently removed a file VProsvc.exe from Symantec System Recovery Tool/Agent. This was the patch file that replaced the installed version in order to correct a problem with registration. I had to uninstall SSR, re-install and again replace the file VProsvc.exe. Right now, though, my main concern is how to get rid of WebShield.
