I just noticed, and it may have been happening for a while, but after I type in the text for an item in the Norton Safe Search box and then hit the return key, the text I was searching for changes into a lot of random characters. Is this just Norton encrypting my search text? I don't see anything unusual happening on my PC and my scans have not shown any malware.
Confirmed the scenario HB has posted. This looks to me to be an encryption hash. Hoping for more info from someone Norton on the subject.

Perhaps that randomization is what they allude to in the Terms of Service [updated May 4, 2018] specifically for SafeSearch in that,
“Additionally, Symantec will use aggregated, de-identified, anonymized or otherwise non-identifying data”
