I believe that command is relevant to Avast product command line scripts. How are you considering this to be related to Norton?
SA
Weil:

Indeed that file is present in my install as well. Being not sure what Norton would be using this file for I cannot suggest any command parameters that might be legitimate. What are you intending to do with running commands against this file? Just trying to gain some clarity about what your intentions are.
@Gayathri_R Why is a file that is suggested to be exclusively for Avast, as noted below, why is it present in the current releases, and what purpose?
Here is some information AI is giving: **** PLEASE NOTE- AI is not always 100% accurate**
A I Overview
There is no public documentation for
norton ashcmd.exe. Theashcmd.exefile is associated with Avast Antivirus, not Norton, and it is only included in the professional version of that software. For Norton, command-line scanning options are not publicly detailed, but users can try usingnavw32.exeoruistub.exewith specific parameters to run a scan or update from the command line, respectively. What to do if you need command-line operations for Norton
- For scanning: Try the
navw32.exeexecutable, which is the command-line scanner for older Norton products.- For live updates: Use
uistub.exewith the/luparameter, as demonstrated in this Reddit thread.- For newer versions: It is recommended to check the Norton community forums for the latest information on command-line tools, as specific executables and parameters may change with new versions.
Why
ashcmd.exeis not the right tool for Norton
ashcmd.exeis an executable associated with Avast Antivirus, not Norton.- The command-line arguments for
ashcmd.exeare for Avast’s scanner, not Norton’s.- Attempting to use
ashcmd.exewith Norton will not work and may result in errors.

“C:\Program Files\Norton\Suite\ashCmd.exe” %temp%*.log
W.M.
Have you attempted using this command line?
nortonui.exe /scan “C:\path\to\folder”
To the best of my knowledge the newer versions of Norton do not support command line interfaces, there isn’t any documentation available as well. Norton and Avast are two separate products and do not function the same.

@Benutzer243 I’m following up to ask if we can assist further.
