Norton scan reports Safe on these files, and there is no entry in my Registry for them. Virustotal.com reports 2 red instances for each of these files, one in CrowdStrike Falcon (ML) and one in Cylance.
I deleted the .# folder and its contents 2 days ago and it has not returned. I’ll check my \roaming folder every few days and if, after a couple of weeks, will mark this thread as a “solution”.

I think you meant to write that the file extension “MBX” is created by Outlook Express. I’ve run the Windows Update and it tells me that I am up to date (the last update was either earlier this week or late last week).
