Hi Stu
I normally wouldn't worry with it being Symantec but where the remote service port is usually a number of 4 or https80,it was as ftp(21) and the other larger number which I Have not come across before? So I'm just checking. I'm seeing what others may think who are more computer savvy than me.
thanks for your answer, appreciate it. Mo
Port 21 is the standard port for FTP or File Transfer Protocol. So it would appear a file was being transfered. now where does the 61554 number come into play?
Hi 4runner
I was in the blog section of Norton,If that makes a difference?thanks for the ftp explanation.
Cheers Mo
Hi
Was sitting browsing these forums and thought I would check my net connections as I do occasionally when I noticed this connection as well as this one FTP.symantec.com 61554.they don't look like normal connections that I see in the log.Are they OK???and what are they would be great to know.
thanks Mo
Were you watching a video that’s on the Norton Protection Blog? That’s probably what the connection was, the embedded video was being accessed.
Hi Tony
I was at Marians post then I flipped thru a few different parts of Nortons site.I was in the protection pages/library but can't recall any Videos as my PC is small it can take forever for videos to load so I may have skipped thru a page without waiting for it to load.Hope that makes sense.thanks for your help on this.
Mo
Hi Mo,
I know for certain that this blog post has a large embedded video housed on ftp.symantec.com. I'll bet that was the culprit.
Sorry for the scare.
Cheers,
Thanks Dave
It dosnt take much to scare a cat!!!
Cheers Mo
As it is a Symantec ftp it sounds reasonable to me
