I'm new on here, so apologies for asking stupid questions.
On my old laptop I used Symantex LiveState recovery and was happy with it. I now have a new stand-alone laptop running Windows 7 and LiveState won't run on it (32/64 -bit issues I guess), so I need to replace it.
I just want to:
1) Take a (weekly) full image backup of my hard drive, onto a USB drive - preferably with some compression options.
2) In the event of catastrophe, insert a virgin drive and restore my image without needing to reinstall software products etc
3) In the event of stupidity on my part, browse the image and pull back individual files or folders.
LiveState did this beautifully (I did have a hard drive disappear, and the restore worked well); WIndows backup offers me either image backups (with no individual file restore) or incremental backups / restores but not the two combined.
I don't want any online backup capability, or any central console control - just a 1 user / 1 laptop licence for a standalone laptop. And obviously at the lowest cost.....
Most of the products look like overkill; which product should I be looking at?
