I am going to be in need of a new Virus/Firewall software soon. No sence in buying 5 again if 6 is cooming out. I would like to get 6 so what are my options?
O YA BUY IT ITS THE BEST EVRYTHING ELSE IS CRAP.
If you like to try Norton 360 version 6. we have a Beta released. You can try that. You can download Norton 360 V6 Beta from the below link :

CAUTION: We do not recommend installing Beta test versions on production machines (ones you count on for your day to day computing activities). By definition, software that is in Beta testing is still in flux and somewhat unstable; things can still go wrong that could cause you substantial difficulty on a machine you use, say, for work or school or home financial management!
I wouldn't recommend the beta on a production machine if for no other reason than the 28-day license keeps lapsing.
I thought that was the purpose of the Beta, be used in everyday situations to see if it works or not. 11 days is not long enough for me to decide. I have used 360 since I dropped McAfee and got 4.0. I need to know it is safe and works as well as 5. More time please, I think everyone would agree on that one.
Who wrote this? Someone at Symantic or someone that was trying to get me to buy the produect. I didnt think that AV software did that. If that is the case I will buy it as soon as I get proof of that.

The purpose of beta testing is to find bugs in the software - some of which could leave your system unprotected or even cause catastrophic system issues. It is not made available to users as a means of providing reliable protection - it is made available so that willing guinea pigs have an opportunity to identify any points where it is failing - something you only want to do on a system that you are willing to sacrifice to the cause.

With the way messages here appear it's not clear to me who you are asking about "Who wrote this?"
Can you clarify or quote the question directly so we can help.
Nobody here is trying to get you to buy anything! We are here to help you get the best use of out what you buy and to help you get it installed correctly.
I echo very strongly that no-one should use a beta for their daily protection for the reasons given and because since they are under test they definitions updates do not come along as frequently as for the finished product.
As someone said beta testers should be volunteers and preferably with a spare computer to do the testing on.
Once it is released then you can get a trial version if you want to and see the differences between say the presnt V 5 and V 6 ......
I have 43 days left on my Norton 360 version 5.0 license. I don't want to renew the license with version 6.0 right around the corner.. When will version 6.0 be available for purchase?

Why not? You get a free upgrade to V6 when it comes out. Grab the cheapest offer you see, here on Norton (check Special Offers in your MyNortonAccount) or in the stores where with rebates prices can be much lower. But if you buy a new copy to use the KEY don't insert it until a couple of days before your subscription expires or you will lose the unexpired time although the OnLine Support team are good at giving it back why have the bother?)
Don't believe anything that anyone tells you about when N 360 V6 (or any future Norton Product) is going to be released. Norton do not announce future release dates.
As long as your subscription hasn't expired, you can upgrade to Version 6.0 without any charge, when it's released. (I would advise waiting for the final release and NOT getting the currently available Beta version of "Norton 360 Version 6.0".) I personally, consider Symantec's "Norton 360 Version 5.0" the best suite protection software that I know of, and have used, but for some reason, on the Norton website as I type this today, Sunday 15 January 2012, you can buy a new one year subsctiption of "Norton 360 Version 5.0" for $59.99, but if you're renewing an active subscription for another year, it's $79.99, $20.00 more or 33% more than just buying a new "Norton 360 Version 5.0". The price descrepancy will cause current subscribers to check other companies' software of the same type, like "Bitdefender Total Security 2012" and/or "Webroot SecureAnywhere Complete", that are highly ranked comparibly with Norton, by PC Magazine. I have nothing to do with any of these companies in any way, but I'm just a current customer of Norton's like "sciewissr".

Welcome,
I concur, as long as your subscription is current you can get all of the updates and program improvements free. You can also get any new versions as they are released.
360 v6 is in beta and IS NOT ready for installation on production systems. When it is released [no date has been announced] you can upgrade.
Welcome to the wonderful world of marketing. As a personal recommendation I would watch the sales and when the time to get a new subscription approaches I'd pick the best price from a vendor I can trust and buy a new subscription. The copies of v5 will get less expensive as the time from v6 to be released approaches. The key will work to give you another year of protection. The down side is that it will not recognize that you have any days remaining. Two solutions are wait until just a few days before your current subscription expires to install the new key. The other is to contact customer support chat found here: http://www.norton.com/chat and let them help you by adding your days back. Nor something they have to do but they have been helpful in this way in the past.
We'll be here when you need us. Til then
Stay well and surf safe
Will those who do the public beta get a released copy free, just wondering John

Hi RBCC,
I doubt Beta testers will get a free copy. There may be a discount, but you will have to get confirmation from Symantec themselves.
Dave.
