We are a startup and have a software deployment that has been discovered to be blocked via WS.Reputation.1 during our installation procedures. It appears we need to report a False Positive (https://submit.symantec.com/false_positive/ or https://submit.symantec.com/dispute/) and to request that our product get added to the White List (https://submit.symantec.com/whitelist/new.cgi). These both seem fairly straightforward processes.
There also is a process for submitting White List Updates regarding a product (https://submit.symantec.com/whitelist/updated.cgi), however:
- What constitutes a change that needs to be reported as an update using this form? It's not apparent from the online information when such an update needs to be submitted. Does any change to the release product binary/executable constitute a reportable change?
- Do we need to report an update each time we release a new revision? This could be a problem, as we release iteratively and frequently - possibly several times in a week.
- Does propogating a White List Update take as long as propogating a new White List entry? The online information indicates that propogating a new White List entry can take several weeks. Should we expect that a White List Update will take as much time to propogate as a new White List entry?
