Why am I paying for this service?

Over the the last three weeks, this service has been down for days at a time. First the W23 errors and now the "oops we have a problem" gem. I am a college student. If a problem happens, I need my files immediately, not two, three, four days later. To claim this is an online back-up service is nearly FRAUD. If you can't both make and access your backups reliably day in and day out, why offer the service? Norton, you should be ashamed. Please, somone in authority from Norton explain why you can't do what other companies with far smaller resources can. Your uptime percent for this service is simply unacceptable.

A disgusted customer looking for a full refund.

Hello

I'd like to be able to investigate your specific issues as well as get a credit for you. In order to do so though I need the below info. Can you send it to me via private message and we can get things going.

    • The email address you use to login to the service.
    • A link to this forum post so I have a point of reference and any other details that you feel may be of use.
    • Your contact info so an agent can contact you directly

I reluctantly agree with you.  I am unable to access my file list to purge unwanted files, no matter what I try.  I spent 45 minutes on the phone with a tech yesterday, and his recommendation was just to purge everything and start over with a full backup of what I actually wanted, which would take 40 or 50 hours to accomplish.  Really?  This problem was originally created because the backup choices they give you sweep a ton of unnecessary data to back up.  Now I can't get rid of it, and my only realistic option is to buy more space while I look for a better product.  Norton, you should be ashamed, you are tarnishing your reputation with this completely crappy product.

There are clearly underlying issues on both sides here. The product does precisely what it should - backs up data based on categories. The more selective we make those categories the more likely it will miss data people want backed up. It's a fine line between too much and too little. However it also offers the ability to filter out folders or files based on the advanced rules if you don't want something backed up. Please see the other thread for my request.
