About six weeks ago I renewed my Norton 360 subscription on my DESKtop computer (from which I am writing). Ever since, I've been intermittently trying to download this software to my LAPtop computer as well.
At the moment, I cannot log onto the Web from my laptop computer, probably due to a change in my modem, and I don't want to deal with that separate problem till I can download Norton 360 onto the laptop.
I can access the Web from the laptop via a moderately secure WiFi available to me. Tonight I tried (once again >sigh<) to access my Norton.com account from my laptop via that WiFi -- and couldn't do it. So I tried a desktop computer connected to the same modem (but probably by Ethernet, not WiFi) and easily accessed my account that way. That confirmed I was using the right username and password. Back to my laptop -- no go.
This is incredibly frustrating. Is there something obvious I'm missing that would prevent my accessing my Norton.com account so that I can download the software? Should I try connecting to the modem via an Ethernet cable -- or is that just too weird?
If what Krusty13 suggested does not work, have you considered downloading N 360 on your desktop to a USB drive and then using the USB Drive for the install on the laptop? Thus you would have N 360 installed and could work on the modem/Norton Account situation with protection. Of course that is based also on being able to connect on the laptop so you could activate and LiveUpdate your N 360.
It turns out that one cannot always sign onto a Norton account with the default browser. On both my computers, Firefox is the default browser, and it worked just fine for accessing my Norton account from my desktop computer. However, I could not use it to access my account from my laptop. When (on a friend's suggestion) I tried IE instead, that worked.
Possibly a Firefox setting in the laptop is causing the issue (blocked cookies??). It should have nothing to do with default browsers - any browser should be usable.
