It is a shame that Symantec has to be so expensive here in the UK, I clicked on the express renewal button the other day only to find the price for 1 year @ £39.99........Buying a new boxset on Amazon usually costs around £22 - 24 and in the case of other market leaders, often around £17.
Also nowadays, many of the free versions by the likes of Avira & others, including Microsoft Security Essentials, are very good products.
Are there any times where an existing user can get a fair deal coming up to their end of subscription period???, I am NOT paying 40 quid for 1 year................let me re-phrase that nicely...........
It is very common for 3rd party vendors to sell a product for a lower price than the manufacturer themselves. In fact I don't think you will find very many examples of where this is not the case.
You can always feel free to purchase from another vendor where you can get it for a lower price. You then only need to hit Renew(NIS 2011) or Express Renewal (NIS 2010 and earlier) and enter the new product key which you purhcased elsewhere.
It is recommended to do this a couple of days or so before your current subscription expires since it starts your subscription period over with your new product key.
That's ok as long as you don't mind having the program in English as opposed to the language spoken wherever you live in Asia. It looks like having the program in English wouldn't be a problem for you.

Of course, English is a language that is universally used and the user was from UK, so I thought I add my comments.
Well, I bought a Greek version here in Cyprus for NIS2010, I don't think it matters what language it is in as long as he is only entering the product key on renewal from the disc! I have another 30 days before my subscription is due and that is what I shall be doing. I bought it for about half the price you would pay from the UK. Of course, if you buy a foreign language version and then load from disc, then you get the language that you bought.
I wish it were cheaper buying from Symantec than having to chase a bargain in the real world
Lucky you sea monster, from what I am learning on the internet English is the communication language between countries...I wish I could speak another language other than English as some of you guys can
Here in the US we have a real big car manufacturer called General Motors. They have maybe thousands of dealerships.
If they were to start selling cars and trucks directly to the public at a lower price then the dealers, then they would have a very hard time finding any new dealers.
The same concept goes for software, if Symantec sold products for less, then nobody else would sell it and it would have a lot less market exposure with a smaller customer base.

And that's why GM goe bankrupt...or almost went bankrupt . Ha ha.
Yeah also Amazon and other retailers sometimes sell bulk so they tend to have discounts offered to them. In addition, as with NIS10, the stores want to clear the shelf to make space for NIS11 so they sell at a lost. Selling at a lost is better than getting nothing..

I recently just bought the Amazon 3 NIS 2010 3-pack download for $41.52 USD. (just for the product key) Also, amusing as this is $26 cheaper than NIS 2011 when it doesn't really matter which version you buy.
At the same time, there were "used" physical copies (NIS 2010) from the Amazon Market Place going for around $25 USD. I was tempted, but I was concerned about a pirated product key or that the key might technically be an OEM version that should have been shipped bundled with a PC.
Does anyone know if it is safe to buy these "used" CD+product key only (no box) versions? (The sellers all had solid ratings.)
Next time, I would rather get 3 licenses for $25 "used" as opposed to $150 from Symantec (renew).
Don't ever buy a used security program or any computer program. The keys will have already been used and therefore worthless to you. Even computer games should not be bought used as the key will be worthless. When you update to the next year's product. it will be best to get the link from the Forum because now the keys are linked to the language from where it was bought. If the key came from France, you will end up with a French version unless you get the link from the Forum as things stand now.
You could have just bought a CD version of NIS11 (make sure sold by Amazon themselves!!!). If you are really short in money, just buy NIS2008 CD and install the product through http://www.norton.com/11. When the time comes to activate the product, insert the CD key.
