I’m not gifted when it comes to computers, but would like to share this and possibly accrue a little wisdom from others.
Got an hp laptop, good machine these 2 years. Win8, meh. Always had good experience with Norton, especially their tech angels over the years, so I kept Norton in the laptop. One day 2 wks ago, suddenly a popup by the taskbar says my usb device isn’t recognized; that’d be the mouse. Went out and bought a new mouse. Then a few days ago, again quite suddenly, the internet connection went — gone. I tried various home remedies, switching ethernet cords, different modem ports, reboot. Finally I had to take the laptop to the village geek who couldn’t figure it out either, but he said the 2 likeliest answers were: virus, or Norton. Go home, uninstall Norton and call me in the morning.
I did that and sure enough, as soon as Norton was out on the curb, my internet connection was restored.
Now, I liked Norton and feel rather underdressed without it, but without internet I am not fit to live.
Can someone tell me how to keep the guard dog from attacking the baby?
