Why do I get a NAG Window every time I start my Win 10 PC?

How can I stop the NAG SCREEN I get every time I start my windows 10 PC?  I cannot delete it!

Completely understood -- I see Avast is buying them.

Avast Announces Agreement to Acquire AVG

Don't know if that's good or bad!

If you decide that Norton is worth trying or having you know where to come for help! Asking before problems is always better than asking after <g>

I've been using AVG for a number of years on all my computers and tablets with great success so did not feel like changing!  Norton may be as good or better - some day I may try it but it was very annoying at the time.  The Chat service needs to get more tecks on line - waiting 45 min. to one hour for service, 3 times,  is too long!

Hi Wilmer,

Thanks for replying with the additional information.

Norton Security installed which I removed using the usual methods

Did that include using the Norton Removal Tool ..... or even more intensive, using Revo Uninstaller in its deepest mode, although the latter is just my personal preference for "good to the last drop" ! But the product has to be there for Revo to start since its first step is the standard Windows uninstaller which is written by the original programmer.

Anyway .. just interested since the normal Windows Uninstall on its own leaves a lot behind some to facilitate reinstallation later and some to stop multiple installs of trial versions.

Sorry you felt the necessity to abandon Norton but I can understand how annoying it is to be told you to update something you no longer have!

Any reason you feel like sharing about why you dropped Norton?

Hugh,

This PC came with Norton Security installed which I removed using the usual methods.  But the NAG screen kept coming anyway!  So I tried to get on Chat and after 3 tries of 45 minutes or more wait time a tech. came on who took control of my PC and solved the problem!

Wilmer

Glad you got it dealt with.

So you do not have Norton installed but you got the Nag screen. That's very odd. I wonder how that happened?

I've seen a report here of someone getting this with Norton Internet Security and Windows 10 there the statement about compatibility is apparently correct and the nag is because the user may think he's protected when he's not.

If you have any time for more details it may help us to help in future situations.

There is a posted fix for this, although you may have to use the Removal Tool a couple of times which is what I used, rather than the Remove and Reinstall Tool.

The NAG SCREEN says my present NORTON Security software is not valid for Windows 10 and offers to download the latest version.  It offers no way to get out of this like an |X|.  I do not us this software and do not want to download the latest version!

Since I posted this problem I engaged by "chat" the 3rd time, with a tech.  This Tech  took remote control of my PC and 15 minutes later removed the NAG SCREEN!

SNAP!

What nag screen?

How to post an image in the forums.

What does it Nag you about? Windows, Norton ..... ?

Some more details please to help others help you .... since I'm not in Windows 10 at the moment.
