Why does Norton 360 recently say that it is incompatible with Dell Data Protection Access, a basic hard drive encryption utility that Dell has been putting on its workstations and laptops for over a year? Norton 360 asks me to uninstall Dell Data Protection Access. I ignore the request and Norton appears to work just fine, but it pops up alerts that the incompatibility remains on my system. I have Dell Data Protection Access on an older Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) machine, and Norton 360 doesn't seem to mind, but Norton keeps telling me about the incompatibility on the Dell workstation (Windows 7 Ultimate, but only 32-bit) set up this month.
I called Norton technical support, and they are as stumped as I. They think they can create a firewall policy to make the warning go away, but isn't that just sweeping the problem under the rug?
If you google the Dell product, do not confuse Dell Data Protection Access with the more comprehensive, enterprise-level Dell Data Protection Enterprise.

As dickevans said - the two parties need to work it out.
My first thought was have you checked to see if there was a recent update to the Dell Data Protection Access?
Also, the MBAM situation dickevans eluded to occurred when you ran an Auto Fix - Support from main page of N 360 and then select Get Support. If it alerts on the Dell data Protection Access, you can continue the Scan by selecting Skip.

Norton products do not check inside encrypted files -- to do so they would have to know your entry password etc -- so maybe that is what it is telling you.
I don't know anything about the Dell system -- does it encrypt the whole disk or just the data files or .......
I read through the Dell user manual on this and don't find anything about how to use AV in conjunction with this but Google did pull up this thread on Kaspersky where a user is having problems with that security application and the thread ends with a reference to Dell Data Protection and asking them to refer to Kasperky's Tech Help.
I also see a report of ESET and possibly a false positive producing this.
I know you said you had been onto the Norton team and they were puzzled so can you give a bit of time for us to nudge the Norton contacts we have.
