Hi, I have a question regarding Norton programs and their identification and removal of malicious files and applications.
I regularly work on my friends computers to restore system settings and files removed by other users.
Recently my friend has been downloading a lot of programs and files, and failing to be able to distinguish fake links and ads, has resulted in his computer being filled with rather annoying adware programs such as - Desk 365, Ask.com, and Qvo6.com which had embedded themselves into the system.
As i was unable to uninstall them, i tried an insight scan and the Norton power eraser to remove them with no such luck, Norton just marked them as trusted and i could not find anyway to manually remove them with Norton internet security.
I then tried the Adwcleaner application to remove Desk 365, which seemed to work as far as i could detect, except that it did not remove the Qvo6.com browser after running, and all attempts to restore to default browser failed.
A sytem restore did not solve the issue either, so i had to resort to a system reboot.
So that was my issue.., My question is that there must be an easier way to remove adware than what i recently encountered, It would be make life much easier for a novice user like me to have an option available to manually remove files using Norton 360/ etc.
As for user error.. that is unavoidable on my friends part, even with my constant re-educating of the do's and dont's.
Please leave any feedback regarding this post, Thanks.
